The documentary Dear Dad: Letters From Same Gender Loving Sons highlights the conversations between Black fathers and their gay sons. Chase Simmons, the filmmaker, was inspired to create it after seeing some of his friends struggle with their relationships with their fathers. He believes that the film can help reduce stigma experienced by Black gay men.

The project aims to give same gender loving men a platform to tell their varying yet universal stories about their relationship with their father and how it has shaped them as men. Ultimately, the documentary is meant to help these men and men like them appreciate what gave them hope and heal what gave them hurt.”
