As part of the second CDC Health Disparities and Inequalities Report (CHDIR), the CDC examined the prevalence of suicide by sex, race/ ethnicity, age, and educational attainment in the United States. The report, Suicides – United States, 2005-2009, concluded that development and implementation of culturally relevant and effective programs are needed to reduce the rates of suicide among groups that are disproportionately affected.
