The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Office of Behavioral Health Equity (OBHE) held a webinar on October 24, 2024, at 3:00 pm – 4:30 EDT that explored breaking down service silos to increase service access for people who use drugs and those seeking recovery, particularly in underserved populations. Researchers have been studying the overdose epidemic in New York State since 2017. They surveyed approximately 300 people from rural, urban, and suburban communities on the front lines. Among them are local officials, members of law enforcement, health and other service providers, and people who use drugs and their families. Participants of this webinar heard from them and other experts about their experiences and efforts to bridge care gaps and eliminate barriers to services.
