This brief presents findings from interviews with family leadership organization staff in Colorado, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont about health insurance coverage and health care financing and the experiences of children with special health care needs (CSHCN), their families, and their communities. Topics include coverage and financing barriers experienced by families raising CSHCN and strategies used to overcome them including expanded outreach, language services, and interagency partnerships.
